No matter how hard you try, and even if you do everything right, your business will almost certainly receive a negative online review at some point. But a bad online review is not the end of the world for your business. It is critical to understand how to respond to bad reviews on the internet to stay competitive and thrive as a business. To respond to bad reviews:
1. Respond to the review in a timely manner;
2. Address the customer by name;
3. Strive to understand what the customer is saying;
4. Thank the customer for leaving the review;
5. Sympathize with the customer and genuinely apologize;
6. Offer to resolve the issue;
7. Keep the response short and sweet;
8. Try to move the conversation offline;
9. Refrain from getting defensive or insulting the customer;
10. Avoid violating confidentiality obligations or professional privilege rules;
11. Avoid responding in all CAPS;
12. Know when to let the review go and move on.
